Rajkumar Quoted on Autopilot in Cars

Raj Rajkumar was quoted by The New York Times on the effectiveness of autopilot in Tesla vehicles following multiple accidents. While Tesla claims that the autopilot system makes driving safer by eliminating human error, Rajkumar stated that the “monitoring system is fundamentally weak because it’s easy to cheat and doesn’t monitor very consistently.” In one accident that resulted in the death of a high school sophomore, Rajkumar noted the autopilot system’s lack of using its radar sensor, which could have prevented the accident.
