Rajkumar comments on Tesla crash in Wired

Wired quoted Raj Rajkumar on why Tesla cars’ autonomous mode fails to avoid parked fire trucks. Cars on the market with autonomous driving or driver-assisting systems use an array of sensors, usually radar and cameras. But Rajkumar points out that those sensors only register moving objects and ignore stationary. This property limits the things a system needs to pay attention to, but likely contributed to the third Tesla crash while the car was in autopilot mode. Read the article.
