Sriraman Named 2026 Anita Borg Early Career Award Recipient
Akshitha Sriraman, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Computing Research Association (CRA) Anita Borg Early Career Award.
Sriraman’s research sits at the intersection of computer architecture and systems software, advancing efficient, sustainable, and fair hyperscale data center systems.
Her work has already achieved significant real-world impact. Her systems innovations are deployed in hyperscale data centers serving billions of users, delivering millions of dollars in cost savings while meaningfully reducing global carbon emissions. In parallel, her hardware design contributions have influenced next-generation technologies, including Intel’s Alder Lake CPUs (Golden Cove and beyond), Intel’s Infrastructure Processing Unit, Mangoboost’s Data Processing Unit, and Intel’s Data Streaming Accelerator.
Sriraman earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. Her research has been widely recognized with honors including an NSF CAREER Award, the 2025 Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Award, the 2024 George Tallman Ladd Research Award, the 2023 Intel Rising Star Award, and a Meta Systems Research Award. She has also received multiple dissertation distinctions from ACM SIGARCH/TCCA, ACM SIGOPS, and IEEE Micro, in addition to a Facebook Fellowship and recognition as a 2019 Rising Star in EECS.
The CRA Anita Borg Early Career Award honors Anita Borg, a pioneering computer scientist and advocate for expanding participation and improving experiences in computing. Presented annually, the award recognizes early-career researchers across academia, industry, and government who demonstrate exceptional potential for impactful contributions and leadership, along with a strong commitment to broadening access and opportunity in the field.
