Morgan receives the FAS Public Service Award

Granger Morgan, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and engineering and public policy, has been awarded the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) Public Service Award.

FAS provides science-based analysis of and solutions to protect against catastrophic threats to national and international security. Since 1971, FAS has recognized an outstanding statesman or public interest advocate who has made a distinctive contribution to public policy at the intersection of science and national security. Past recipients include Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Richard Garwin, Carl Sagan, and Phillip Morrison.

“This award is quite wonderful,” says Granger.  “For decades, my colleagues, students, and I have worked to build research and education in technology and public policy here in Carnegie Mellon’s supportive interdisciplinary environment. It's great to see our accomplishments recognized in such a visible way!”

Granger will receive this award at the FAS Gala in Washington, DC on September 28.
