Bio

Sarah H. Cen is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford and an incoming Assistant Professor at CMU. At Stanford, Sarah's position is joint between the Department of Computer Science and the Law School, where she works with Prof. Daniel Ho and Prof. Percy Liang on AI auditing, AI supply chains, and AI policy. She recently finished her PhD at MIT in EECS, where she was advised by Prof. Aleksander Mądry and Prof. Devavrat Shah. Sarah's research is focused on the intersection of machine learning and AI accountability, exploring how computer science, law, and policy come together to ensure that AI is developed and deployed responsibly. She tackles this line of work using tools from machine learning, statistics, causal inference, and game theory. Sarah received her master’s degree in Engineering Science (Robotics) from Oxford University and her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University.
