"Center for Silicon System Implementation (CSSI) was called the Center for Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) when I first joined the center in the fall of 1999 as a graduate student. As if arriving from India at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University wasn’t enough, I was blown away by the versatility of talent all around me. The intellectual capital of fellow graduate students, quality of course work, an impressive 1:3 faculty-to-student ratio, eminence of the faculty and the raw superiority of research work at CEDA was remarkably enormous. Changing the name to CSSI was more rational than nominal – it represented the forward-looking realization that the CSSI faculty and future students are going to focus on all aspects of integrated systems design and manufacturing. I don’t hesitate to state that CSSI provided me a branding and intellectual background to succeed in the semiconductor industry where I have spent 7 years now. Since graduating with a PhD from CSSI, I have repeatedly gone back to the talent pool of CSSI and tapped graduate students for high-profile jobs into the semiconductor industry. CSSI has never disappointed. To this date, being an alumni of CMU/CSSI is something both respected by my peers and something I continue to be intensely proud of.

"CSSI is composed of world class researchers, both faculty and students. Working with the members of CSSI, during my doctoral studies, was an amazing experience and has opened up a whole new world of technologies and opportunities. I passionately follow CSSI research long after my graduation and the tradition of thought provoking and influential research continues to thrive.
