Fernando Martins, who earned his Ph.D. in ECE with University Professor of ECE José M. F. Moura in 1997, has been named the new president and general manager of Intel in Brazil. In his more than 13 years at Intel, Martins has served as global director of Strategic Planning, and was responsible for the company's Initiative on Virtualization, which, according to a press release, caused a positive impact on company revenues. His success at the company earned him the Intel Achievement Award twice.
According to Intel, Martins' appointment to the Brazilian branch "reflects Intel's commitment to Brazil, considered one of the major focuses of the corporation due to the huge potential of the country." Martins, who has more than 24 patents and 40 publications to his name, aims to apply best practices in deploying the company's innovations in Brazil.
