EE Alum Earns Honorary Doctorate in Science and Technology

At Carnegie Mellon's 106th Commencement on Sunday, May 18, Ivan E. Sutherland, vice president and fellow of Sun Microsystems, will be presented with an honorary doctorate in science and technology for his groundbreaking work in computer graphics, robotics, virtual reality and computer architecture. Sutherland earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Carnegie Mellon in 1959. Teresa Heinz, chair of the Howard Heinz Endowment and the Heinz Family Philanthropies, will be the keynote speaker.
