September 26, 2002

CMU's College of Engineering will sport a team of 15 runners for the 26th annual Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh 10K/5K Great Race. Last year, the College of Engineering placed first and second in the Great Race's educational team division. Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty team leaders Cliff Davidson and Dave Dzombak have fielded Great Race teams for the past 10 years, but the 2002 team is the largest team to date. A third of the Carnegie Mellon team are women. The overall percentage of women involved in the Great Race jumped from 20 percent in 1977 to 42 percent last year.
