John Heffner won the Allen Newell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research from the School of Computer Science (SCS) for his senior thesis, "High Bandwidth TCP Queuing," which he conducted jointly with Matt Mathis, Network Research Coordinator, Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) and his faculty advisor, Peter Steenkiste, Associate Professor of ECE and CS. Heffner will receive a $1,000 cash award and be formally recognized at this year's SCS Commencement program.
