July 30, 2001

Although he advises computer users to take precautions, such as encrypting financial data while using the Internet, Pradeep Khosla, ECE Department Head and Philip and Marsha Dowd Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Robotics, said he is more concerned about web paranoia than privacy violations in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Users should have "a reasonable expectation of privacy," online. "I'm confident there will be no notion of complete safety," he added.
