Mentoring & Outreach Program
This program represents two things that are important to all WinECE members: mentoring and outreach.
The goal of the mentoring program is to carefully pair up new students with more experienced students to provide a close connection to the other women in ECE and to build a sense of camaraderie among women in a male-dominated major. This represents both sophomore undergraduate women and first-year graduate women new to the department. The mission of the mentors is to provide support and understanding, as well as guidance in all areas of life within ECE, including advice about registering for classes, graduate school and jobs/internships. Every semester the mentoring and outreach chair organizes events, such as a trip to Color Me Mine or a movie night, providing all members a chance to sit back and relax.
The second component of the program stresses the importance of outreach. While this is the newest initiative in WinECE, the officers and members are very excited to go above and beyond and positively affect the community not only within Carnegie Mellon, but also within Pittsburgh.
