ProtoFlex is an FPGA-accelerated hybrid functional simulator designed to advance large-scale multiprocessor hardware and software research. ProtoFlex provides first-class support for full-system fidelity–i.e., the ability to run stock commercial operating systems with I/O support. This is accomplished without undue effort by leveraging a hybrid emulation technique called transplanting. Our transplant technology uses FPGAs to dynamically accelerate only common-case behaviors while relegating infr…text/html2010-12-03T17:25:23-04:00Mike Ferdmandocumentation:iiswc2010_tutorial_flexus

This section of the SimFlex tutorial will cover a hands-on example of using Flexus. This part of the tutorial covers three high-level steps: (1) booting a simulated system in Simics-only, (2) importing a test application into the simulated system and creating a Simics checkpoint, and (3) using the flexus tools along with the sampling concepts to measure the newly-generated workload.text/html2010-12-02T21:48:07-04:00Michael Papamichaeldocumentation:iiswc2010_tutorial_protoflex

Welcome to the IISWC 2010 Protoflex tutorial! Download the [tutorial slides here].
Introduction
During this tutorial we will first briefly cover the basic ProtoFlex simulation architecture concepts and we will then move onto a hands-on session, where we will test-drive the recently released ProtoFlex Simulator. In particular we will go over the hardware and software installation procedures, and the process for staging and running your first simulation on the FPGA. This tutorial assumes you ar…text/html2010-12-02T18:31:38-04:00Michael Papamichaelwiki:navigation
