Please note that in the above table: 1 GB = 1024 MB, 1 MB = 1024 kB, 1
kB = 1024 B(yte).
Dates are written in the format YEAR.MONTH.DAY .
The information in the above table is correct as of 2004.06.19.
All information in the above table may be collected by using one or more
of the following commands:
/usr/local/bin/uname -a
/usr/local/bin/sysinfo
/usr/local/bin/top
/usr/sbin/psrinfo -v (sun machines only)
Since there is no known system command to get the cpu speeds of the IBM
servers, they had to be collected indirectly from these URLs:
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/pseries/hardware/factsfeatures.html
for IBM 7017-S85 (please refer to page 8 of the PDF file and look
at the column for IBM server pSeries 680)
http://www.rs6000.ibm.com/idd500/usr/share/man/info/en_US/a_doc_lib/aixbman/prftungd/2365ax5.htm
for the CPU speeds of IBM 7042/7043 (ED)
IBM machine names are based on dead mathematicians and sun machine
names are based on dead rock stars. This should serve as a warning
to any CSSI student who dreams that one of these machines will be named
after himself/herself.
