ISR Disk Performance with Xen and iSCSI Sachin Kulkarni and Joseph Mou skulkarn@andrew.cmu.edu, jmou@cmu.edu Internet Suspend/Resume currently uses VMware, a proprietary product, for its machine virtualization. Switching to an open-source virtualization solution, like Xen, would allow greater flexibility. This paper intends to examine the feasibility of porting one portion, the virtualized disk. For modularity, the cache manager will reside in a separate virtual machine and communicate to Xen through iSCSI. We intend to evaluate the disk performance of this approach in order to inform further development of ISR with Xen.
