Replicated Servers
The stock servers are replicated using active replication. All servers are running and receiving messages from the StockTicker client. When all servers are up and initialized, they are all capable of serving PowerQuotesClients.
For testing, there are 3 servers running. One on each of the following machines: risk, trouble, scrabble.
Entities Not Replicated
The database, JNDI, StockTicker, and ReplicationManager are not being replicated and are on drlucky.
Number of Faults Tolerated at a Time
With 3 servers running, 2 faults can be handled at a time (2 servers going down).
It is assumed that the stuff running on the safe machine, drlucky, will not go down.
Successive Faults Tolerated
As long as at least one replica is guaranteed to be up, an infinite number of successive faults can be tolerated. The Replication Manager will restart servers as they go down. So as long as there is always one server that is completely started, the PowerQuotesClients will be receiving updated stock information.
