We will design and build a small, low-cost laser projector and control system. It will be able to project laser show images either standalone or under the control of a computer. The devide will integrate the laser hardware along with a new, custom control system.
Laser shows have been a common visual effect in large venues for decades. However, today's laser projectors are still large and extremely expensive; even parts for a modest projector can cost thousands of dollars. By combining the recent practicality of direct injection laser diodes with increased integration of parts, we believe we can drive down the cost of a laser projector to around $500.
