GRADING
Mid-semester demo & presentation -– 30% of grade (team).
The entire team must be present for, and participate equally in, the demo and presentation. The outline for the mid-semester presentation will be provided. Your team will build up to this presentation through two prior 10-minute presentations (1/31, 2/14).
Final demo & presentation -– 30% of grade (team).
The entire team must be present for, and participate equally in, the demo and presentation. The outline for the final presentation will be provided. Your team will build up to this presentation through four prior 10-minute presentations (1/31, 2/14, 3/28, 4/11).
Online documentation of project -– 10% of grade (team).
The entire team must be present for, and participate equally in, the project's documentation. The outline for the documentation will be provided. The documentation is to be maintained online through your team's project website. Your team will build up to this through the various milestones of the project.
Individual performance in presentations -– 15% of grade (individual).
You will make a solo 10-minute in-class presentation, on behalf of your team, as a part of a project milestone. In addition, you will "own" a 5-minute portion of your team’s mid-term and final presentations.
Individual class participation -– 5% of grade (individual).
This will be judged by your individual response to others’ email questions, your finding and sharing useful resources, your discovering and sharing debugging tips, your providing material and suggestions for improving the course content. Course participation also includes your attendance at, and contribution to, all of your team's six design reviews with the instructor.
Individual reviews of other teams' designs -– 5% of grade (individual).
Each team will need to review the other teams' projects at the four team-presentation sessions (1/31, 2/14, 3/28, 4/11). Only one team member needs to do this, on behalf of the entire team, at any such session. When it is your turn to do this, you will need to review, and submit a written critique of, the design of all of the other teams. Three-person teams will only need to fulfill this requirement for the first three such sessions. Four-person teams will need to fulfill this requirement for all four such sessions.
Peer review from your own team -– 5% of grade (individual).

ATTENDANCE
Attendance at all of the design review meetings with the instructor is mandatory.
Attendance in class when your team presents is mandatory.
Attendance at the demos and poster session is mandatory.

CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM
Cheating and plagiarism are unacceptable and will be dealt with severely, and are likely to result in a failing grade. Please refer to the Carnegie Mellon University Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism. The projects are meant to be done in teams. While collaboration is encouraged and expected within a team, it is considered a form of cheating if you shirk your share of the team's workload, effectively forcing other team members to do your part.
If you use online resources (e.g., code, ideas, documents), please credit them in your work by acknowledging the source in your code and project website. If another team or a student from a different team has helped your project, please credit that team or student appropriately in your code and your project website.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT
Any equipment that is used on the projects is Carnegie Mellon property and is on loan to your team for this semester, for completing the project in this course. You and your team members are personally responsible for the care of the equipment while it is on loan to you. Your team should return the equipment in working order at the end of the course, or earlier, if requested by the instructor and/or the TAs. You should return the equipment immediately if all of your team members (including yourself) drop the course. You should not loan the equipment out to others outside of your team members for this course. You should use the equipment only for activities directly related to this course, and not for any other purpose. Finally, you should not violate Carnegie Mellon computing facility guidelines when using this equipment. Your final grade for the course will be assigned only upon return of all of the loaned equipment, in working order.

TAPING CLASS ACTIVITIES
No student may record or tape any classroom activity without the express written consent of the instructor. If a student believes that he/she is disabled and needs to record or tape classroom activities, he/she should contact the Office of Disability Resources to request an appropriate accommodation.
