A Platform for System-Level Integration

Fast prototyping and IP (Intellectual Property) blocks reuse are two major vectors in reducing the time-to market of System-on-Chip (SoC). This presentation highlights the advantages and issues of the platform based development approach for system level integration (SLI). An application from Oki Semiconductor (mPLATTM Development Platform) is also presented.

Herve R. Auch-Roy joined Oki Semiconductor in Sunnyvale, California, in January 1997, and supervises today the support of system level integration for the Oki mPLATTM. Prior to his position at Oki Semiconductor, Herve participated in the development of the MPEG2 Video Encoder, and the Digital Assisted Television (European DATV) of Thomson Multi-Media. Herve brings along an extensive industry experience at Thomson Multi-Media in Strasbourg and Grenoble (France), and at IBM Corporation, in the 3090 Test Equipment Division (Montpellier (France), Poughkeepsie, NY (USA)), and in the CAEDS Marketing Department (Paris (France)). Herve holds an MSEE (1984) from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (CNAM), and a BSEE (1978) from the Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) of Montpellier (France).
