Project description

The goal of this project is to design a secure RFID integrated circuit with integrated antenna. The RFID chip will be a complete stand-alone secure system with programmable ID code that is powered by incident RF energy. The project will focus on the design, simulation and layout of the key RF and analog circuit blocks to implement this system in a 130nm CMOS technology. The key challenge for the design is that the on-chip antenna only harvests a tiny amount of energy from the incident RF signal. This forces all of the circuit design to operate at extremely low power levels and requires the RF power harvesting circuitry to be very efficient.
