May 19, 2015

ECE Ph.D. student Shupeng Sun will be recognized as the second place graduate winner in the ACM Student Research Competition Grand Finals for 2015. The ACM Student Research Competition (SRC), sponsored by Microsoft Research, offers a unique forum for undergraduate and graduate students to present their original research at well-known ACM sponsored and co-sponsored conferences before a panel of judges and attendees. The Awards Banquet will take place in San Francisco, CA on June 20, 2015

Shupeng Sun, advised by ECE Associate Professor Xin Li, developed an algorithm that calculates the failure rate and accounts for variability and uncertainties in the manufacturing process, allowing companies and researchers to run significantly fewer simulations. His work has been integrated to the commercial EDA tool Virtuoso ADE GXL by Cadence Design Systems, Inc.
