Student & Professor paper will appear at Best Paper Session at HPCA Conference

A paper co-authored by Yu Cai (PhD, ECE 2013), Yixin Luo (PhD student, SCS), ECE Professors Onur Mutlu and Ken Mai will appear at the "Best paper session" at the HPCA 2015 Conference (21st International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture) held in February in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. The paper is one of the six that appears in the Best Paper Session. Only six out of the 51 papers accepted to the conference (out of 226 submissions) were selected for the Best Paper Session.

The paper is titled "Data Retention in MLC NAND Flash Memory: Characterization, Optimization and Recovery," which presents the first rigorous characterization and analysis of data retention behavior of commonly used flash memory devices (e.g., USBs, SSDs) and develops novel methods to enhance reliability of such memories.
