Hug Named Outstanding Young Engineer

Assistant Professor Gabriela Hug has won the 2013 IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Outstanding Young Engineer Award, "for outstanding contributions in the leadership of technical society activities including local and/or transnational PES and other technical societies, leadership in community and humanitarian activities, and evidence of technical competence through significant engineering achievements."

The annual award, administered by the PES Awards and Recognition Committee, includes a plaque, travel stipend, and the honor of designating a college or university to receive a $2,000 scholarship for an electrical engineering undergraduate. Hug will be recognized in a ceremony in Vancouver in July.
