A group of ECE researchers led by ECE Professor Radu Marculescu earned the Best Paper Award at the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Hardware/Software Co-Design and System Synthesis (CODES-ISSS), the premier event in design, modeling, analysis and implementation of modern embedded systems. The paper "A Traffic-Aware Adaptive Routing Algorithm on a Highly Reconfigurable Network-on-Chip Architecture," proposes a flexible multicore architecture and a dynamic distributed routing algorithm that can enhance the network-on-chip communication performance with minimal energy overhead. It was co-authored with ECE post-doc Paul Bogdan; Ph.D. student Guopeng Wei; Zhiliang Qian, a Ph.D. student from Hong Kong visiting as part of the Fulbright program; and Chi-Ying Tsui, his advisor from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
