ECE Department Head T.E. (Ed) Schlesinger has been invited to serve on the International Advisory Panel of Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Graduate Academy. The A*STAR Graduate Academy was set up in 2003 to nurture and develop Singapore's R&D human capital through various scholarships, fellowships, awards and collaborative Ph.D. programs at both Singaporean and international universities.
The International Advisory Panel comprises eminent senior scientists and administrators from non-Singaporean universities and research institutions and its role is to provide expert advice to the A*STAR Graduate Academy on its array of R&D human capital programs, to help shape policies and to enhance Singapore's international network. Sir Keith Peters of the University of Cambridge is the chairman of the panel.
Professor Schlesinger's term is for two years. Carnegie Mellon currently takes part in A*STAR's program that supports students from Singapore pursuing a Ph.D. in ECE at Carnegie Mellon working on collaborative projects between the Data Storage Systems Center (DSSC) and Singapore's Data Storage Institute (DSI).
