Last summer, Carnegie Mellon students and alumni had the opportunity to visit with each other during events hosted by the ECE Department and the School of Computer Science (SCS) in the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, and Seattle. ECE and SCS students interning in each city and alumni from the area were invited.
Over 120 people attended a picnic in the Bay Area, held on July 22 on Moffett Field on the Carnegie Mellon West campus [view photos]. In addition, recent graduates and student interns met for a day on the lake at Shoreline in Mountain View, where they kayaked, canoed, sailed, and golfed.
Later in the summer, the ECE and SCS community in Austin was invited to the Cool River Café on August 3 for an evening out [view photos]. More than 50 alumni and students participated, including student interns and alumni of all ages, from recent graduates to seasoned professionals, CEOs, and university professors.
Next, on August 13, over 60 Carnegie Mellon picnickers gathered in scenic Lincoln Park in Seattle. Along with picnic areas, Lincoln Park has a walkway along the beach, tennis courts, baseball fields, and picnic shelters.
