Diana Marculescu, Associate Professor of ECE, has been elected Vice Chair for Special Interest Group (SIG) Development on the Executive Committee of the SIG Governing Board of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The volunteers on the board are elected by other members and are responsible for the 37 SIGs within the ACM.
Marculescu is also the Chair of the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Design Automation (ACM/SIGDA). The technical society is for those involved in using computing in all phases of electrical and electronic design. SIGDA sponsors the annual Design Automation Conference (DAC) and other research and educational events.
DAC is the premier electronic design automation (EDA) and silicon solution event. The 43rd DAC will be held July 24-28, 2006, in San Francisco, and Marculescu is a member of the conference's Executive Committee as the ACM/SIGDA representative.
