ECE Alumnus Wins Intel Achievement Award

December 12, 2005

ECE alumnus Charles Winstead (M.S. ECE, 1991; M.S. MechE, 1994; Ph.D. ECE, 1995) won an Intel Achievement Award last year for his role in a new software system for managing material in semiconductor fabrication. The honor is Intel's highest project-based award; less than 1% of Intel employees ever receive it. Winstead was formally recognized by Intel's chief executives Craig Barrett and Paul Otellini at a banquet in San Diego, where he received a cash award and a trophy.

A Software Architect for Fabrication Automation in Intel's Portland Technology Development organization, Winstead is currently applying the methodology of tracking material in fabrication to other business processes.

When he was a student at Carnegie Mellon, he was advised by Professor James Hoburg.
