Carnegie Mellon's Data Storage Systems Center (DSSC) hosted their spring technical review from March 22-23 with sessions in media for perpendicular recording, optical and thermal recording, L10 nanoparticles, channels, convergence of storage and computing technology, surfaces and tribology, and tape systems. The DSSC offers technical reviews twice a year to update center members, invited guests, and DSSC personnel on current research progress through oral presentations and poster sessions that highlight project areas. Forty industrial affiliates took part in this review representing companies from the U.S., Japan, and Italy. Approximately eighty people from Carnegie Mellon attended.
