Chen Delivers Keynote at IEEE Conference on Multimedia

ECE Professor Tsuhan Chen delivered the banquet keynote at the International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME), IEEE's flagship conference on multimedia technologies, held this year in Taipei, Taiwan. Chen discussed interesting facts about the human perception of faces in his speech, "Face Identification by Computer and by Human: Two sides of the Same Coin, or Not?" In his presentation, Chen gave examples of image analysis techniques inspired by human perception, using a biologically-inspired approach. He compared this method with face recognition algorithms based on conventional pattern recognition and outlined promising directions in face identification based on this research.
