Mechatronics Design Pancake Cookoff

April 28, 2003

Challenged to design a pancake maker capable of autonomously flipping and cooking breakfast, eight teams from 16-778/18-578/24-778, Mechatronics Design, demonstrated their devices for their final project: a pancake cookoff. Including features such as a wrist action flipper, a pneumatic nozzle bank, a 4-bar linkage, an auto batter dispenser, and visual servoing, each device had its own flavor. One apparatus wore a chefs hat, another choreographed the cooking process to a CD soundtrack, while an additional model automatically prepared the meal upon a keystroke.
