Ronald Bianchini, Adjunct Professor of ECE and CS, was profiled along with four other CMU entrepreneurs in Carnegie Mellon Magazine's Spring 2002 piece, "The New Entrepreneurs." The cofounder and CEO of Spinnaker Networks, headquartered north of Pittsburgh in O'Hara Township, he leads his company in "developing hardware and software for data storage by blending server and networking technology," merging what he called two largely distinct disciplines until now, according to the article.
Noted for his management and communication skills, Bianchini has headed the growth of Spinnaker to 105 employees in its first 18 months and earned significant investment, reflecting magazine's report that the volume of digital information nationally is expected to double over the next few years.
Bianchini earned his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1989.
