Stern's Auditory Research Noted in Physics Today

June 9, 2001

Physics Today cited Richard Stern's early work in an article about how owls process sound to locate items in space. Stern's thesis study at MIT with advisor Steve Colburn (now at Boston University) investigated how people determine the origin of sounds based on models of time-difference and intensity cues.

Stern, Professor of ECE, Biomedical Engineering, and CS, studies automatic speech recognition, auditory perception, and signal processing.
