Takeo Kanade, the Whitaker University Professor of Computer Science and ECE, will receive the Foundation for C&C Promotion's 2000 Prize this fall for "contributions to the development of multimedia through the fundamental and broad advancement of robotics and computer vision." The prize includes a cash award of $100,000. The nonprofit foundation, established by the NEC corporation in 1985 focuses on the integration of computers and communications technologies. The prize is awarded annually to individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to research and development in the electronics industry.
