Messner Receives Ahrens Development Professorship

William Messner, associate professor of mechanical engineering and electrical and computer engineering, and education director of the Data Storage Systems Center (DSSC), has been named recipient of the Theodore Ahrens Development Chair in engineering. This three-year young faculty development professorship honors an educator whose work has the potential to have a significant impact on the university and a specific academic field. Professor Messner has achieved success by identifying and compensating for linear and nonlinear dynamics in control systems. He leads the servo controls effort at the DSSC and is an accomplished teacher.
