Matt Theisz
Senior electrical and computer engineering major Mathew Theisz is applying his technical expertise, but it's not as a software engineer or in the field of computer security. It's as a broadcast engineer for "The Saturday Light Brigade" (SLB), Pittsburgh's award-winning live public radio program hosted by Larry Berger (E'83), another Carnegie Mellon engineer who's turned to radio.
Marta DePaul
ECE Senior Marta DePaul has a double major in the International Relations business track, a minor in Engineering Design, and a love of Carnegie Mellon engineering that runs in her family. She's interned and studied abroad in Japan, researched projects with General Motors and ICES, and taught boy scouts electronics for merit badges. What are the essentials of her ECE business plan?
Nicholas Rubi
Nicholas Rubi may only be a sophomore in ECE, but he has already blasted off to make a big impact in the Carnegie Mellon community. As one of the first winners of the ATK-Nick G. Vlahakis Scholarship, a member of the Red Team robot racers, and an officer in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), he has already interned at Alliant Techsystems' Rocket Center and is aiming for a career in the aerospace and defense industry. Join Rubi as he talks about his award, ECE, and his future plans.
Nicole Saulnier
Ever since her parents, both Carnegie Mellon graduates, took her to our spring carnival as a little girl, Nicole Saulnier always knew our school was her first choice. One of the first winners of the ATK-Nick G. Vlahakis Scholarship, the Integrated M.S./B.S. (IMB) degree student is in her fifth year of study, earning her Master's degree. Read about her scholarship, activities, and Pittsburgh pride.
Chris Pearson: Three Time National Champion Swimmer
ECE senior Chris Pearson lapped up two more honors for the Carnegie Mellon Varsity Swim Team at the 2005 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships, defending his 200 yard freestyle title from 2004, winning the 200 yard butterfly, and leading the Tartans to a 6th place victory. He was the University Athletic Association Swimmer of the Year in 2002 and 2005, and part of the 2003-04 First Team Academic All-American Men’s At-Large Team (along with ECE senior Boris Sofman in tennis). As a dean’s list student with 26 all-American certificates, Chris has learned to focus on his goals as a student athlete, diving into success and planning to continue next year in the Integrated M.S./B.S. (IMB) degree program.
