Teaching internship

- Two semesters of Teaching Internship are required for the ECE Ph.D. program.
- Ph.D. students or M.S. students who intend to pursue a Ph.D. are eligible for the TI.
- Students should obtain their advisor's permission prior to applying for the TI.
- TIs must register for 18-991 in the Fall or 18-992 in the Spring.
- TIs are graded; a grade of "B" or better is needed to successfully complete the TI requirement.
- TIs are assigned to work 10 hours per week.
- Registration of 12 units is required for each semester of teaching.
- Ph.D. students who have completed the two required semesters of TI are eligible to apply to work for a TS.
- Students should obtain their advisor's permission prior to applying for the TS.
- TAs working for a TS are assigned to work approximately 10 hours per week.
- TAs working for a TS are compensated, on top of the normal stipend, $18/hour for the hours worked.
Graduate Students
International graduate students interested in working as a TA must contact the Intercultural Communication Center (ICC) to register for the International Teaching Assistant (ITA) test at least one semester prior to applying for a TA position.
