Graduate Students

Approved courses

These courses are approved to count as ECE graduate courses for the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.

Note that the Ph.D. degree has additional constraints to satisfy the Breadth requirement.

ECE courses

Any approved 12-unit ECE course at the 18-600 level or higher, with the exception of project, seminar and independent study courses.

Courses outside of ECE

Courses in the following departments that are 7xx or higher and are non-project, non-seminar or non-independent study courses are approved:

In addition, the following courses outside ECE are also approved:

  • 21-801 – Sampling, Counting and Rapidly Mixing Markov Chains
  • 33-758 – Quantum Computation and Quantum Information Theory

Students can formally petition the Graduate Studies Committee if they wish to count another course from outside the ECE Department to satisfy the 48 ECE graduate units needed for the M.S. Degree Course Requirement. Prior to submitting a petition, please inquire with the ECE Graduate Office for approval status of any particular course.
