This course is a graduate-level course on the principles of network and service management (NSM) systems. The primary objective is for students to learn the construction of large-scale, distributed, automated network management and control systems that configure, monitor, operate, and control large networks. We will define the problem, investigate the scope, and examine fundamental principles. We will study existing tools, platforms, paradigms, and seek abstractions that can be used to build efficient management and control systems. Students will work on a semester long project on next generation network management and control systems.
Prerequisites: 18-756 (or graduate level networking course) and senior or graduate standing.
