IntroductionOn this page, you will find a collection of albums containing pictures I have taken of friends, family, places, and various events. Some of these pictures are meant to be artistic, whereas others I wanted to put up on this website purely because they remind me of old friends and good times long gone. Pictures (in reverse chronological order)Pictures from MASCOTS 2005 (September 27th to 29th, 2005): I presented a paper at MASCOTS'05, which was held in Atlanta, Georgia. Included in this ablum are pictures from this conference. Pictures from Raja Day 2005! (August 20th, 2005): Didn't you know!? August 20th of every year is Raja Day. Amazingly, I didn't know about Raja Day either until Sally, Mike, Trisha, and Jen all appeared out of nowhere that evening wearing 'Raja shirts' and carrying a 'Raja cake'! Well, I won't complain :) Anyway, just so that everyone knows, on Raja Day you shouldn't ask yourself "What can I do to make myself happy today, " but rather "What can I do to make Raja happy today?" Hint: the answer might involve money, lots of e-mails from friends, a Ph.D., a Dr. Who fourth doctor 12-ft scarf, a white lab coat, or even Calvin & Hobbes merchandise. Of course, it is expected that each person will arrive at a different answer, depending on what they can provide and their own preferences. Pictures from my trip to Falling Water with Ivan Dobric, Sanja Marinkovic, and Marija Marinkovic (June 25th, 2005): It should have taken us no more than two hours to get to Falling Water from Pittsburgh. However, a combination of my sense of direction, Ivan's amazing navigating skills, and some terrible directions from the Falling Water website, made the two hour drive an entire day drive! In our defence, Falling Water is located so far away from human population (there were a lot of cows...), that it's impossible to convince yourself you're going in the right direction, even when you're actually doing so. Anyway, we got there an hour before the site closed for the day, and so the excessively long drive was worth it :) Pictures from Steve Schlenkermann and Ericka Wilson's wedding (May 20th, 2005): Steve is a very good friend of mine from high school and is also the first of my friends to get married. I was honoured to be asked to be an usher during the wedding, but little did I know that Steve and Ericka had picked out very bright lavender vests for all the ushers to wear! Steve later told me that the lavender vests served to guarantee that he looked better than all his ushers. Okay..okay... in actuality Ericka picked the lavender vests so as to match the colour of all the bridesmaids' dresses (but I like my version of events better:). All pictures in this album are courtesy of Andy Peruggi, Owen Doherty, and Steve Schlenkermann. End of junior year at CMU pictures (May 2002): Contained in this album are pictures I took at the end of my junior year at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Included in this album, is a group shot of the Mudge gang together for the last time! I was supposed to make a copy of this group shot for everyone in the picture, but I'm lazy and I never got around to it! Pittsburgh picture series (May 2002): This album contains photographs I took while walking from my dorm (Mudge House) to downtown pittsburgh at the end of the spring semester in 2002. This walk took three hours! My favourite photographs in this series are entitled "The Point State Park Fountain" and "Point State Park, under the bridge." CMU picture series (April 2002): The first time I stayed in Pittsburgh during a university vacation was during spring break my junior year. I had the dorm almost entirely to myself, and the campus itself seemed like a ghost town. I decided that there was no better time to capture the CMU campus and the surrounding area in all of its gothic glory. Pittsburgh is a very gothic town...you do agree with me, don't you? End of sophomore year at CMU pictures (May 2001): This album contains such gems as "Raja and Graham being a Verilog." If you know what Verilog is...well...I'm not sure I want to talk to you. Pictures from New Year's 1999 with Dan Terry, Mike Tolan, and Rachel Handwerger (December 1998): These are pictures from a new years I spent with some very old friends. Pictures from session one of CTY (July 1997): For four years, from 1994 to 1997 (my nevermore year), I attended a rather interesting camp every summer for three weeks called "The Center for Talented Youth" (CTY). The fact that this was the first time many of us were away from our homes, combined with the utter hectic pace maintained at CTY, made many of us form close, lasting friendships. For three weeks each year, we took midterms, finals, did homework, participated in skit and talent shows, ate ben & jerry's ice cream, and danced each weekend away. I often find that I still miss the times I spent at this place. Undated picturesNew York City night pictures: I don't know when I took these pictures, but I think they are worth putting up on this website. These are pictures I took of the New York City skyline from the Empire State Building. Miscellaneous (artistic): These are pictures that don't fit into any category. My favourite picture in this album is entitled "New York City skyline via a bridge." Unfortunately, due to my laziness, the original print of this photograph is rapidly deteriorating. Of course, I can't find the original negative either... |
